Noted events in his life were:

• Biography: Mining Engineer/ Inspector/ Manager and WW1 military service. Daniel Campbell Mackenzie was a highly qualified mining engineer who was a manager and inspector of mines, and who served in WW1, see:

Daniel married Eva Beard, daughter of Charles (Chas) Beard and Sophia Eliza Thomas, on 27 Feb 1906 in Scots Church, Melbourne. Eva was born in 1880 in Lancefield, Victoria and died on 27 Apr 1927 in 10 Piece St, Moonah (Hobart), Tasmania at age 47.

+ 23 F    ii. Sheila Margaret Campbell Mackenzie was born in 1910.

Daniel next married Beatrix Victoria Wilcox on 16 Oct 1927 in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. Beatrix was born on 20 Jun 1897 in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia and died on 5 Oct 1957 in Hobart, Tasmania at age 60.

10. Isabella Chloe McEwen Mackenzie was born on 4 May 1883 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland, died on 7 Aug 1962 in St Andrew's Presbyterian Hospital, East Melbourne at age 79, and was buried on 10 Aug 1962 in Springvale Crematorium, Melbourne. She had no relationships and no children.

Dr John Gladstone Mackenzie was born on 23 Feb 1886 in Scotland, died on 21 May 1916 in Erquinghem (near Armentieres), France at age 30, and was buried in Erquinghem, Lys Cemetery, France (1.75 miles west of Armentieres, in Erquinghem-Lys Churchyard Cemetery Extension, plot 3, row J, grave 23). He had no relationships and no children.

Noted events in his life were:

• Biography. Capt John Gladstone Mackenzie qualified as a medical practitioner in Glasgow, and emigrated around 1910. He worked in general practice in rural Victoria, before serving in the medical corps in WW1. He was killed in action near Armentieres, France, near the Belgian border, see:

• Military Service: Killed in action. Capt John Gladstone Mackenzie was on duty with the 6th Field Ambulance near Armentieres, Northern France, when killed in action in WW1 aged 30, see:

12. Elizabeth Campbell Mackenzie was born on 1 Apr 1890 in Parish of Cambusnethan, Lanark, Scotland, died on 18 Aug 1966 in Melbourne, Australia at age 76, and was buried in Springvale Crematorium, Melbourne. She had no relationships and no children.

13. Catherine Johnstone Smith Mackenzie was born in 1897 in Scotland and died in 1953 in Melbourne, Australia (age 55. Vic BDM reg 10530) at age 56.

Catherine married William John Toyne in 1926 in (Vic BDM reg 12202).

15. Daniel Campbell Mackenzie was born in 1881 in Scotland and died on 21 Feb 1886 at home at Balmuidy Cottage, Glasgow, from Tuberculous meningitis at age 4.5 years.

16. Charlotte Augusta Campbell Mackenzie was born in 1884 in Scotland, died on 12 Jun 1971 in Melbourne, Australia at age 87, and was buried in St Kilda Cemetery.

Noted events in her life were:

• Education: Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC), East Melbourne.

• Occupation: Nurse.

Charlotte married Montague Brown on 25 Oct 1927 in Ulverstone, Tasmania. Montague was born on 6 Aug 1870, died on 24 Dec 1942 at age 72, and was buried in St Kilda Cemetery. They had no children.

Marriage Notes: After the death of her Aunt Janet Mackenzie in 1896, Charlotte became the housekeeper for Montague Brown following his return from studying art in Paris. Victorian legislation forbade the marriage of Monty to Charlotte (the niece of his deceased wife), so they were married in Tasmania (Ulverstone) where this was legal.

General Notes: He was the elder of twins.

Noted events in his life were:

• Occupation: Artist. After the death of his wife, Janet, in chilbirth in 1896, he travelled to Paris and studied art (other students at that time included Claude Monet). He painted Australian landscapes with his impressionist style, mostly in oil and a few using water colours.

• Re-marriage: 25 Oct 1927. Following his return to Australia, the niece of his deceased wife, Charlotte, became his housekeeper. Many years later, they married in Tasmania (Ulverstone) because Victorian legislation forbade the marriage of Monty to his deceased wife's niece.

17. William Smith Mackenzie was born on 26 Oct 1885 in Balmuidy Cottage, Western District of Cadder, Glasgow, Scotland, died on 25 Apr 1963 in 540 Neerim Rd, Carnegie (Melbourne), Australia at age 77, and was buried in St Kilda Cemetery.

William married Rita Shewring Heriot on 11 Nov 1914 in Thornbury (Melbourne). Rita was born in 1889, died on 16 Mar 1973 in Melbourne, Australia at age 84, and was buried in St Kilda Cemetery.

Marriage Notes: After finishing his schooling, Will worked in the bank at Kyneton where he met Rita, daughter of the Kyneton Railway Station Master.

Noted events in their marriage were:

• Education: Scotch College, Melbourne 1899-1902.

• Occupation: Bank Manager Colonial Bank (later NAB), Traralgon. Left the bank to run a real estate business in Morwell, but lost a lot of money to a dishonest business partner. Will's family always said, "He should never have left the bank."

• Interests: Singing, magic, and tennis. Will was an excellent singer and won prizes as a soloist and in duets with his partner Rita. He organsised and conducted church choirs in Traralgon and Morwell.
He was also a talented magician, his tricks including slight of hand with coins and cards.

Children from this marriage were:

+ 28 F    i. Rita Jean Mackenzie was born in 1915 in Australia and died on 4 Jun 2003 in Sydney, Australia at age 88.

+ 29 M    ii. Donald Montague Mackenzie was born on 26 Sep 1917 in Traralgon, VIC, died on 17 Oct 1998 in Moruya Hospital, Moruya, NSW at age 81, and was buried in Narooma Cemetery, Narooma.

+ 30 F    iii. Marjorie Winifred Mackenzie was born on 10 Jul 1919 in Traralgon, VIC and died on 6 Nov 1998 in Sydney, Australia at age 79.

18. David Clow Mackenzie was born about Oct 1888 in Scotland, died on 27 Aug 1889 at sea whilst travelling to Australia aged 10 months, and was buried in St Kilda Cemetery.

19. Margaret Campbell Mackenzie was born in 1894 in Australia, died on 29 Jun 1977 in Melbourne, Australia at age 83, and was buried in St Kilda Cemetery. She had no relationships and no children.

Noted events in her life were:

• Education: Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC), East Melbourne.

• Occupation: Bookkeeper.

20. Ian Montague (Monty) Mackenzie was born on 13 Jun 1897 in Australia, died on 6 Oct 1929 in Melbourne, Australia at age 32, and was buried in St Kilda Cemetery. The cause of his death was Pernicious anaemia. He had no relationships and no children.

• Education: Scotch College, Melbourne.

• Occupation: Physiotherapist. Started the Physiotherapy Department at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne

• Interests: Singing. Monty was the leading tenor in the choir at St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne

21. Brown (stillborn) was born (stillborn) and died on 16 Jan 1896 in St Enoch's, Elsternwick.
